The Provincial Government of Marinduque led by Government Carmencita O. Reyes, warmly welcomed Sec. Jose Maria Nicomedes Hernandez, Presidential Adviser for Southern Tagalog and Asec. Jose Antonio Hernandez, Assistant Secretary for Special Concerns of DSWD, together with the AFP Commander of SOLCOM, Lt. Gen. Danilo G. Pamonag, Vice Governor Romulo A. Bacorro, Mayor Roberto Madla of Boac, representatives of national government agencies including NEDA, PNP and DILG, and the private sector to the launch of the YAKAP-BAYAN program in the province of Marinduque.
The event was successfully held at the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Training Convention Center on February 15, 2018 and participated in by 439 drug surrenderers out of the recorded 937 surrenderers from the six municipalities of Marinduque. These drug surrenderers were enlightened by Asec. Hernandez on the benefits of YAKAP-BAYAN program to their future and well-being, including the socio-economic transformation the program can do to their families. They will embrace change with a goal of transforming drug surrenderers into commnunity volunteers, advocates and eventually leaders in their respective communities who are able to become partners of the government programs and activities, such as disaster resiliency and response programs.
Gov. Reyes expressed her profound gratitude for the visit of Sec. Hernandez. The latter assured the Governor that all support she needs for the province will flow in. Asec. Hernandez affirmed what his father (Sec. Hernandez) said, as a declaration of support.
The event was concluded by the signing of the pledge of commitment and distribution of “pamilya package” to all the drug surrenderers and their families.
