The Regional Land Use Committee (RLUC) conducted its first quarter meeting last March 19 in Odiongan, Romblon. This was attended by representatives from regional line agencies (RLAs) and local government units (LGUs).

The meeting aims to provide updates on the disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation (DRR/CCA) enhanced provincial development and physical framework plans (PDPFPs). The integrating DRR/CCA Project of the NEDA, UNDP and AusAID which started in 2010, intends to mainstream the integrated concerns of DRR/CCA in plan documents.

Four provinces (Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) presented their DRR/CCA-enhanced PDPFPs. It was agreed that RLAs will provide comments to provinces and LGUs to comply with the requirements set by Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB). The RLUC will again convene on June 19 on Puerto Princesa City for endorsement of DRR/CCA enhanced PDPFPs to HLURB.

Other matters presented include guidelines on Forest Land Use Plan (FLUP) preparation by DENR, revised guidelines on CLUP preparation and status of comprehensive land use plans (CLUPs) preparation/updating by HLURB, and status of processing of certificate of ancestral domain title (CADTs) in MIMAROPA by National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP).
