The Regional Development Council (RDC) in MIMAROPA adopted the gender and development (GAD) mechanisms profiling and inventory of GAD policies form and enjoined all government agencies  in the region to accomplish the said form during its 2nd quarter Full Council meeting held on June 4 through  Zoom video conference.

Regional GAD Committee (RGADC) Chairperson and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) MIMAROPA Regional Director Fernando R. De Villa Jr. presented the salient features of the tool to the Council.

De Villa explained that the tool will be used to gather information on the preparation and submission of GAD plan and budget (GPB) and GAD accomplishment reports (AR), formulation of GAD code/agenda, establishment of GAD Focal Point System (GFPS), development of GAD database, and adoption and implementation of GAD policies.

Through GAD mechanisms profiling and inventory of GAD policies, RGADC MIMAROPA will be able to assess the functionality of the GFPS of the regional line agencies (RLAs), state colleges and universities (SUCs), and local government units (LGUs) and identify the gaps and challenges in the implementation of GAD mandates and policies at all levels.

The tool was crafted by the RGADC technical working group (TWG) with the Department of Education MIMAROPA as TWG team leader. The RGADC MIMAROPA will start the administration of the tool in the third quarter of 2021.
