In his opening remarks, Mr. Alvin P. Laurio, Information Officer IV of NAMRIA, on behalf of Assistant Director of Geospatial Information Systems Branch, Benjamin P. Balais, extended his appreciation to NRO MIMAROPA for selecting NAMRIA as the training provider for its GIS competency building journey. He also gave the participants important tips and pointers in maximizing learnings during the training.

NRO  MIMAROPA Regional  Director Agustin C. Mendoza thanked NAMRIA for accommodating NEDA’s request for the conduct of the 2nd batch training on QGIS. He said  that NRO MIMAROPA is looking forward to maximizing the use of spatial technology in development planning, investment programming, project appraisal, monitoring and evaluation projects in the region.

Packed with fundamental functions of GIS, the training covered the discussion on the basics of map creation, georeferencing, digitizing and tracing georeferenced scanned map, and creating simple spatial overlay and analysis using the QGIS, an open-sourced software. At the end of the training, the participants were able to create their own GIS maps.
