The NEDA Regional Office (NRO) MIMAROPA spearheaded the conduct of a consultation meeting with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) regarding the formulation of a comprehensive airport safety ordinance for MIMAROPA on March 30 through video conference.
In his opening remarks, Regional Director (RD) Agustin Mendoza of NRO MIMAROPA expressed his gratitude to CAAP and DOTr for their long-standing commitment in achieving gold standard when it comes to airport security and safety for MIMAROPA
Mr. Efren N. Nagrama of CAAP Area Cluster II presented the current situation of the airport safety within his jurisdiction and the salient features of the proposed comprehensive airport safety ordinance covering operational safety and security, environmental management, and emergency response preparedness.
One of the agreements reached during the meeting is for CAAP to present the draft Standard Comprehensive Airport Safety Ordinance in the second quarter MIMAROPA Infrastructure Development Committee (IDC) meeting, to recommend support to the MIMAROPA Regional Development Council (RDC).
A consultation meeting is scheduled on May 16, to present the salient features of the draft Standard Comprehensive Airport Safety Ordinance and solicit feedback from concerned local government units prior to its presentation to RDC. NEDA MIMAROPA ARD Apollo Edwin S. Pagano concluded the consultation meeting with an affirmation of NEDA’s commitment and support in improving airport security and safety in the region.
