The MIMAROPA Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC), in collaboration with the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), conducted a strategic planning workshop recently  in Ermita, Manila.

The workshop was participated in by GAD focal persons of RGADC member agencies, state universities and colleges (SUCs), and local government units (LGUs) including  private sector representatives (PSRs).

The activity aimed to formulate a six-year strategic plan for RGADC MIMAROPA. Specifically,  (1) to develop the RGADC MIMAROPA vision and mission for the region, (2) to identify the challenges of the committee in fulfilling the functions as the regional arm in mainstreaming gender and development, and (3) to  identify yearly priority activities to be implemented by the committee.

Ms. Nharleen Santos Millar, Ms. Psyche Mae A. Asencio, and Mr. Raymond Jay L. Mazo of the PCW served as resource persons during the strategic planning.


RGADC Chairperson and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) MIMAROPA OIC Regional Director Floreceli Gunio emphasized the need to mainstream gender and development in all programs, projects, and activities (PPAs) and identify the gender gaps through gender analysis to come up with PPAs that are gender responsive.

Meanwhile, a workshop on the finalization of the RGADC MIMAROPA Strategic Plan 2020-2025 was conducted on October 21 in Manila.

The draft RGADC MIMAROPA Strategic Plan 2020-2025 will be presented during the 4th quarter Social Development Committee and RGADC joint  meeting on November 8, 2019.
