The provincial government of Romblon hosted the 63rd MIMAROPA Regional Development Council (RDC) Full Council meeting last June 7 in Odiongan, Romblon.

The meeting was presided over by MIMAROPA RDC Chairperson and Governor of Palawan Jose C. Alvarez. It was attended by regional directors on national government agencies, executives of local government units, and private sector leaders. Governor Eduardo C. Firmalo of Romblon, Governor Alfonso V. Umali, Jr. of Oriental Mindoro, Governor Mario Gene J. Mendiola of Occidental Mindoro, Mayor Rachel M. Banares of the League of Municipalities of Romblon, and Mayor Angelina F. Tria of Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro, also attended the meeting.

The Council approved/endorsed the following resolutions: a) 2017 Regional Development Report; b) proposed new plantilla positions of the Commission on Higher Education and Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority; c) edible bird’s nest industry in Palawan; d) conduct of tourism investment forum; e) criteria for judging street dance competition of the MIMAROPA Festival; f) proposed schedule of Research, Development and Innovation Committee meeting; g) confirmation of the Armed Forces of the Philippines as Economic Development Committee member; h) confirmation of Regional Gender and Development Committee officers; i) Bahay Pag-Asa facility for children in conflict with the law; j) establishment of malaria elimination hub; k) revised fiscal year 2019 budgets of MIMAROPA’s DOST, DPWH and EMB; l) additional FY 2019 programs, projects and activities of the DSWD; and m) conduct of an executive course on national security in MIMAROPA.

The members, on the other hand, were briefed on the highlights of the RDC Advisory Committee meeting held on May 30, 2018 at the House of Representatives in Quezon City attended by the members of the RDC MIMAROPA Executive Committee and the House Representatives for MIMAROPA.
