To instill the importance of the role of tourists receptionists and professionalize the provision for basic guiding services to tourists, the Department of Tourism (DOT) MIMAROPA conducted the Seminar on Tourist Reception and Guiding Techniques for 27 participants from San Jose, Occidental Mindoro last January 23 to 25, 2017.

Values Formation, Effective Customer Service and Practical Guiding Techniques were among the topics taken up during the 3-day seminar by Mentors Alvin Dexter Tan and Carlos Garcia.

A modest number of visitors continue to explore this quaint town of San Jose found in the southwestern tip Occidental Mindoro.  It offers an off-the-beaten-path charm for local and foreign tourists who prefer a more serene and unexplored destination in Southern Luzon. It is accessible from Manila by Cebu Pacific Airways which flies 3 to 4 times weekly and an hour away by land to Sablayan where you can find Apo Reef, the diving mecca in the country.
