The Infrastructure Development Committees (IDCs) of CALABARZON and MIMAROPA conducted a joint meeting on June 16 through Zoom teleconference.

MIMAROPA IDC Chairperson and Marinduque Governor Presbitero J. Velasco, Jr. and CALABARZON IDC Chairperson Engr. Ladislao Andal presided over the meeting which was attended by directors and representatives from regional line agencies, local government units, and private sector representatives from both regions.

In his message, Governor Velasco expressed his gratitude to the members who attended the joint meeting. He explained that the shared vision of the two regions for the continuous development and sustained economic growth led to the conduct of the joint meeting. He also shared that as the two regions reinvigorate their economy from the COVID-19 pandemic, it is of paramount importance to discuss and share ideas on infrastructure and economic linkages of transportation, energy, and tourism sectors.

The joint committee discussed the following: (a) Luzon power grid expansion to MIMAROPA region; (b) port city development master planning for MIMAROPA; (c) expressway development and strong republic nautical highway (SRNH) system; and (d) integrated inter-modal transport terminals with premium point-to-point  (P2P) and Bagsakan center components. Consequently, the joint committee recommended the Regional Development Council  adaption of the said infrastructure development projects.

The joint committee was also informed on the inter-regional tourism loops, public utility vehicle modernization program, domestic air transport, renewable energy development, and transport management and connectivity.

In his closing message, Engr. Andal thanked the members for their engagement on the  discussions  and knowledge sharing. He affirmed to support the advancement of common goals towards the realization of the shared vision of CALABARZON and MIMAROPA.
