The provincial government of Marinduque hosted the 51st Regional Development Council (RDC) full council meeting held on June 5 in Bellarroca Island Resort and Spa, Buenavista.

RDC 4-B Chairman and Romblon Governor Eduardo C. Firmalo presided the meeting which was attended by Marinduque Governor Carmencita O. Reyes, directors and representatives of regional line agencies, local government units, and private sector representatives.

The matters endorsed during the meeting were: (1) conduct of feasibility study on the proposed Mindoro Batangas floating bridge; (2) inclusive partnerships for agricultural competitiveness project to the NEDA Investment Coordination Committee; and (3) health facilities enhancement program of DOH-CHD 4-B.

The council approved the resolutions on: (1) Commission on Population and National Commission for Culture and the Arts as additional special non-voting members of RDC and SDC; (2) strategic regional development agenda action planning guidelines; (3) Occidental Mindoro State College to recognize the PUP Sablayan extension campus students; (4) recognition of Romblon State University centennial celebration; (5) inclusion of MIMAROPA provinces in the high impact breakthrough program of Department of Health; (6) breastfeeding stations in government offices; (7) creation of tourism department and appointment of officers; and (8) implementation of mercury disposal project in the region.

The members were also informed on the status of RDC endorsed projects, project monitoring reports, regional economic situationer, 2015 census of population, peace and order situation, 2014 outstanding volunteer, and regional development report 2014.

The council expressed its appreciation to the provincial government of Marinduque for hosting the event. The next RDC Full Council Meeting will be held on September 4 in the province of Palawan.
