The role of the IDC is to address the concerns of the infrastructure sector in the region, specifically, the communications, waster resources, power generation and electrification and social infrastructure sub-sectors.  The IDC performs the following functions:


  • Reviews/Deliberates projects as evaluated by the IDC Technical Secretariat including the importance of the project in achieving regional development goals and its relative priority for implementation vis-à-vis other project proposals;
  • Recommends to the RDC for approval decisions on specific projects submitted for RDC endorsement;
  • Integrates infrastructure plans and programs into regional sectoral plans and programs and coordinates all sectoral planning and programming activities of regional line agencies and;
  • Assists the RDC in the translation of national development goals and policies into specific regional sectoral objectives.
