The Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) MIMAROPA confirmed a total of 33 members during its third quarter committee meeting through video conference on August 17, 2021.
From 29 members, the MIMAROPA RGADC now has a total of 33 members composed of regional line agencies (RLAs), chairpersons of sectoral committees of the Regional Development Council (RDC), private sector representatives, local government units (LGU) representatives and a president of a state university.
The concurrence of the regional directors of the MIMAROPA offices of Department of Budget of Management (DBM), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), and Commission on Human Rights (CHR), and the sectoral committees’ chairpersons as RGADC members was requested to fully implement the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) and Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) Joint Memorandum Circular (JMC) 2016-01 in the selection of its members. The agreement of the current members to their continued membership in the committee was also sought.
Meanwhile, the Committee agreed to create the screening committee for the certification of MIMAROPA Regional Pool of Gender and Development Resource Persons (RPGRP) and elected Dr. Julie Hope Timotea P. Evina of the Western Philippines University (WPU) as committee’s Chairperson. The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) MIMAROPA, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) MIMAROPA, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) MIMAROPA, Economic Development Committee Chairperson Rodne R. Galicha, and Social Development Committee Chairperson Marvi R. Trudeau were also elected as members of the screening committee.
The certification of the MIMAROPA RPGRP is one of the activities specified in the Strategic Plan 2020-2025 of the Committee to address the issue on the limited number of GAD experts in the region. The screening committee shall lead the process of application, shortlisting, and leveling sessions of applicants to the RPGRP.
Others topics discussed during the meeting included reports regarding results of the advance testing of the online GAD tool developed by RGADC, Learning Session on the Formulation of GAD Agenda among SUCs in MIMAROPA, status of preparation for the Regional GAD Budget Forum for the RLAs, state universities and colleges, and government-owned and controlled corporations, and the launching of NEDA MIMAROPA GAD Corner.
The RGADC MIMAROPA’s new set of members and the chairperson and members of the screening committee for the certification of MIMAROPA RPGRP shall be confirmed by the RDC during its third quarter Full Council meeting on September 3, 2021.
