RDC MIMAROPA confirms new RGADC officers, adopts RPGRP certification guidelines

The Regional Development Council (RDC) MIMAROPA confirmed the election of the Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) chairperson and co-chairperson during its 1st quarter full council meeting held on March 5, 2021, via Zoom video conference.

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) MIMAROPA Regional Director Fernando R. De Villa, Jr., was elected as the new RGADC chairperson while Private Sector Representative Juvelyn V. Gumal-in of the Pampayanang Mangyan Ugnayan, Inc., was elected as the new co-chairperson of the committee during a special RGADC meeting held on February 26.

Meanwhile, Assistant Regional Director Suzette Gannaban-Medina of the Department of Education (DepEd) MIMAROPA presented the guidelines on the certification of the MIMAROPA Regional Pool of Gender and Development Resource Persons (RPGRP) during the meeting. The Council approved and adopted the guidelines, which aim to address the issue of the limited number of GAD experts in MIMAROPA.

The guidelines specify the processes of application, shortlisting, and certification of GAD resource persons in the region. It also includes the terms of reference, GAD technical assistance referral process, and the roles of the RGADC and Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) in the certification of members of the GAD pool of experts.

The MIMAROPA RPGRP certification guidelines were developed by the RGADC technical working group (TWG) led by DepEd MIMAROPA with the assistance of the PCW.

Following the implementation of the guidelines, RGADC MIMAROPA will organize the screening committee and issue a call for applications for MIMAROPA RPGRP this 2021.
