The Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) recognized the country’s modern day heroes in the 2017 Search for Outstanding Volunteers (SOV) awarding ceremony on December 15, 2017 at the Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria, Ortigas Center in Quezon City. Calapan City recognized as one of the most competitive cities in the country

The ranking of Calapan City in the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) of the National Competitiveness Council of the Philippines rose significantly for the years 2016-2017.
