To strengthen and promote gender and development (GAD) in the workplace, the NEDA Regional Office (NRO) MIMAROPA conducted a training on the use of the harmonized gender and development guidelines (HGDG) and GAD planning and budgeting on June 13-14, 2019 at the NEDA Regional Office Western Visayas (NRO IV) in Iloilo City.
The activity was participated in by NRO MIMAROPA officials and staff.
NRO VI Regional Director Ro-Ann A. Bacal, in her opening remarks, welcomed the NEDA MIMAROPA staff in Iloilo City. She mentioned that they are happy to share with MIMAROPA their knowledge in the application of HGDG in the work of NEDA especially in investment programming, monitoring and evaluation, and project identification and development.
Ms. Cynthia C. Lumampao, Chief Administrative Officer and Ms. Ira G. Pahila, Senior Economic and Development Specialist of NRO VI served as resource persons during the activity.
Lumampao discussed GAD analysis and tools and the HGDG on project identification and design. A workshop was conducted after the presentations. The participants were grouped into three and were tasked to assess the gender responsiveness of case studies provided to them using the HGDG checklist on project identification and design.
Pahila, on the other hand, discussed the HGDG checklist on project implementation and monitoring and evaluation. She also shared best practices of NRO VI in the preparation of GAD plan and budget.
The activity aimed to enhance the understanding and skills of the NEDA MIMAROPA staff on GAD analysis and tools and the application of GAD tools, specifically the HGDG in project identification and development and in monitoring and evaluation.
The activity also aimed to discuss and share best practices of NRO VI in the preparation of GAD plan and budget which NRO MIMAROPA can replicate.
