The NEDA Regional Office (NRO) in MIMAROPA through the Project Development Assistance Team (PDAT) conducted a training on project development for 30 technical staff of the City Government of Calapan on March 26 to 28 at Calapan City Negosyo Center.
Acting City Planning and Development Coordinator EnP. Amormio Carmelo Joselito S. Benter welcomed and encouraged all participants to take advantage of the training which will serve as a good venue to apply whatever they learned from an earlier training on technical writing. He also stressed that it is high time to come-up with more viable projects in support to the development endeavors of Calapan. He also said that the training will complement the preparation of the master plan for sustainable urban infrastructure of Calapan City. On behalf of NEDA Regional Director Susan A. Sumbeling, Mr. Bernardino A. Atienza, Jr., the team leader, noted that NEDA will coordinate with the City after the training to monitor its results such as project proposals prepared and included in the priority investment program of Calapan City.
Topics discussed include investment programming, basic concepts and processes of public private partnership (PPP) projects, introduction to project development, logical framework, project identification and prioritization, conduct of feasibility study, and harmonization of gender and development guidelines (HGDG) in preparation of project proposals.
Fourteen pre-determined projects were assigned to the participants which were used as exercise materials during the workshops.
In his closing message, Benter challenged the participants to apply what they learned from the training to produce viable proposals that may be adopted for funding and implementation by concerned institutions. He also instructed them to finalize and submit the assigned project proposals after the training.
