The Provincial Government of Marinduque has been a recipient of the Department of Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) Seal of Good Housekeeping (SGH) in 2013 and Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) in 2015.
SGLG is the conferment of a seal to local government units (LGUs) that adheres to performance criteria on any of the following areas: good financial housekeeping, disaster preparedness, social protection for the basic sector, business friendliness and competitiveness, environmental management, and law and order and public safety.
As a reward to the provincial government’s efforts of sustaining transfarency on good governance to the public of Marinduque, DILG recognized the performance of the provincial government thru the performance challenge fund (PCF), an incentive fund given to qualified LGUs whose programs and projects are aligned with the national development goals and priorities.
In CY 2015, the provincial government received a cash reward amounting to P7 million intended to provide public infrastructure development programs. The cash reward was utilized accordingly to fund the priority projects in the province which are in support to the millennium development goals (MDGs).
The provincial project monitoring division of PPDO conducted random inspection on July 8-19 of the eight (8) programs under the PCF implemented on February 8 by the provincial engineer’s office of the province of Marinduque. All eight farm-to-market-road projects were 100% completed on April 29, 2016. This program helped boost the economy and social access of the rural barangays to the town proper.
