The provincial government of Marinduque continues to embark on programs of the DILG conditional matching grant to provinces (CMGP) – formerly konkreto at ayos na lansangan at daan tungo sa pangkalahatang kaunlaran (KALSADA) – by identifying and funding the improvement, upgrading and rehabilitation of core roads and priority roads.
In 2016, the province is a recipient of the DILG-KALSADA program amounting to P102,217,893.46. It has implemented two (2) road improvement projects, namely, the Boac-Mogpog road network of Tagwak-Danao-Mataas na Bayan provincial road, with a total length of 3.8 kilometers; and the Sta. Cruz and Torrijos road network of Taytay-Haguimit-Nangka-Maranlig, with a total length of 5.517 kilometers. The percentage completion of the said projects is at 56.15 per cent and 39.15 per cent, respectively. The total released fund for the said project was P21,495,918.05 or 21.03 per cent of the total project cost as of June 2017.
The road projects have generated local employment of 93.94 per cent males and 6 per cent females. It also improved access of commuters both local and tourists in transferring goods and services including social benefits on the delivery of health services in the far-flung barangays and sitios.
The provincial government of Marinduque likewise engaged the services of the Development Bank of the Philippines through its LGU loan facility. Part of the loan is intended for the rehabilitation and improvement of farm-to-market roads and local roads. Of the 26 road projects, two (2) projects were completed and six (6) are on-going. As of April 19, 2017, two (2) road projects were completed amounting to P13,400,000.00, while six (6) provincial roads are on-going with 50 per cent completion, as of June 2017 with a total amount of P32,743,533.96.
Other infrastructure projects are being sourced from the 20 per cent local development fund of the province in the Philippine Rural Development Project of the Department of Agriculture.
