The Brooke’s Point Coco Product Producers Cooperative (BPCPPC) in Ipilan, Brooke’s Point, Palawan is a cooperative registered with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) in 2015. It is engaged in food processing business that produces virgin coconut oil (VCO) and coconut flour. It was organized by the ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, Inc. with the help of the local government unit if Brooke’s Point and Pacquiao-Lagrada Livelihood Center. Donations from the said parties have already established a 1,500 sqm. facility and processing area situated in Barangay Ipilan.
Their main source of income is young coconut and copra, which are only sold for a fair or sometimes low price market value as dictated by the buyers and traders. Their income was barely enough to support their everyday food for their families.
It was identified and established as potential recipient of PCA’s banner project, KAANIB Enterprise Development Project (KEDP) site in 2014. The cooperative is composed of sixty (60) members, twenty-one (21) of which are employees who operate the processing plant. It has members belonging to local tribes namely the Pala’wan, Cuyonons and Muslims.
In the first phase of PCA’s project intervention, under the community/household level coconut processing project component of KEDP, different machines and processing equipment for VCO were purchased and delivered such as grater, air compressor and accessories, continuous pressure filter, stainless storage tank with accessories and sight glass, milk presser, drying table and pulverizing table. Currently, the average annual volume of their produce is 646 liters of VCO and coconut flour with an average annual net income of P85,600.00.
